5 Good Things
Wow. Considering all that's going on with Stitch Machine, it's hard to beleive it has been two weeks since I blogged. So i'll make like Martha Stewart and share a few of my own Good Things:
1. Crown Town Handmade
I’ve been working hard helping to get Charlotte’s new crafty business group, Crown Town Handmade, up and running. It’s come a long way since Amanda from Verabelle first got a small group of us together in Novermber. We now have over 30 members and are an official Etsy Team. We have been meeting once a month for member workshops- I taught one called Craft Fairs 101- and we also have a Community Craft night open to the public on the 3rd Thursday of every month. We're calling it "Crown Town Make Out" and it was a featured "See & Do" event in Creative Loafing newspaper! Photos from that event will be posted on the Crown Town blog soon. So far this group has taught me many invaluable lessons, and my business has improved as a result.
2. Farthing Collective
I am now writing for Farthing Collective Blog. Working with the group is an inspiration- we update the blog almost every day, sometimes twice a day. The group has been a hotbed for new ideas and creativity. It has a focus on DIY, biking & skateboarding, design, apparel, and underground music. We have writers from all over the US and readers from all over the world. The website gets pretty high traffic, so it's been fun. Check it out! Here are the posts I’ve made so far:
Make your own Bubble Magnets!
Carve your own Stamp!
Johnny Cupcakes in Charlotte
3. Indie Fixx Spring Galleria
I'm currently featured in the Indie Fixx Spring Galleria. I had to pay a small fee to join, but it's juried and this is the first time I've made the cut. The Indie Fixx Blog is well known in the DIY community and many independent businesses advertise there because of the high traffic. The Spring Galleria runs through June 4.
4. Spring Craft Fairs
I am planning to have my booth at the following events:
FemmeFest-May 22, Neighborhood Theatre, Charlotte
All Arts Market- June 2 & 3, Neighborhood Theatre, Charlotte
Big Crafty- July 11, Pack Place, Asheville
Maybe more!
5. New Packaging
I just got my new product cards fresh from the printer yesterday! They have the Stitch Machine logo that has been on my website, and I also added a little North Carolina logo. They look great! As always, they are made with card-stock that is FSC certified, Carbon Neutral Plus, made with 100% renewable green energy, and are acid free. The company who makes the card-stock is based in Georgia, and has paper mills in the United States and Germany. The card-stock is a little more expensive, but considering all of these things, I think it's worth it.
There is lots more to share, but these are just a few highlights. Stay tuned to my blog for more updates.

Awesome stuff! I'm digging the new packaging!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Farthing! I'm hoping the smaller packaging will encourage people at craft shows to pick the sculptural hair clips up and touch them.
ReplyDeleteI almost forgot- I wanted to share your giveaway with my readers:
