When I was bagging groceries at my part-time job yesterday a little boy with a red shirt and a tightly manicured afro walked right up to me grinning. He looked up and bragged in a sing-song voice "I got my first haircut today". His smiling dad confirmed, "Yup, his first haircut at five years old." Then the kid reached into his jeans, pulled out a huge puff of black hair, and reached his arm up as far as he could so that I could inspect it, as his older sister rolled her eyes. It was almost too big for him to hold onto. "See!" he said, as if to prove his story. He was so pleased with himself and with the ball of hair that the barber must have let him save.
Kids really do say (and do) the darndest things!
